Forty-five birds serve as guides to help interpret and personalize the messages they bring and aid you in discovering how to work with their energy for spells, dream work, and ritual, as well as spiritual and personal growth. The Making of The Avian Oracle
The Avian Oracle was a project that took over a year to complete from concept to production once it was in my hands. I was incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to work with Sandra Kynes and to be given much creative freedom. By the time I was involved, the manuscript that she had written was more or less complete, giving deep insights and history for each of the 45 birds. There was an incredible amount of inspiration that I was able to glean from her passionate writing to jump off with.
As someone who is a long-time tarot reader, I wanted to bring the same richness of symbolism, meaning, and opportunity for intuitive connection with each card illustration and began the long process of my own research to help gain a personal connection and understanding of the birds and their messages.
Each color, symbol, and design was purposefully chosen for how it supported the message and spirit of its bird, inspired by its correspondences, habits, environments, or cultural significance and history.
